Chicana/o Studies is not just studying the history of struggle, pain, and loss. It also considers and cherishes the institution of family and love. Much of the achievements and accolades in said history are premised for the betterment of family and community. In this spirit is what influences the last assignment.
I want you to consider the following:
Who inspires you and why? What historical figure compares to a person who has motivated you and taught you something you could never learn in a classroom or a book? When event that taught you something new – in this class – reminds you of something that happened to you – but you overcame?

Keep in mind that this is not a normal type of final. Then again, this in not a normal time we are experiencing this very moment. Take the opportunity to write what you feel and think. Feel free to vent.
We need to keep in mind that in the course of our endeavor – whether it is school, work, providing for the family, taking care of loved ones – we need a moment for ourselves. It’s ok to be selfish for a few minutes a day. Or, in this case, the time it takes to reflect for this assignment. 🙂
Keep in mind, we can combine our personal thoughts and experiences in a formal setting. Accordingly, citation, thesis, body, and conclusion are still being graded.
