•To demonstrate that you have met the end-of-program outcome related to Informatics and technology. The end of program outcome is that at the end of this program, students will be able to:
oInformatics and Technology-Use information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making.
•To demonstrate your understanding of the healthcare providers’ role in the collection and management of data to generate informationthat impacts the delivery of quality and safe patient careas well as ensuring positive patient outcomes.
•To develop your critical thinking skills (a habit of mind characterized by the comprehensive exploration of issues, ideas, writings and events before accepting or formulating an opinion or conclusion).
•To develop skills to critically appraise the unintended consequences that may occur and to suggest potential solutions to promote quality and safety in healthcare delivery. Health care providers are expected to provide safe, individualized, accurate and competent patient care. The EHR (Electronic health record) provides many advantages and tools to mitigate potential healthcare provider errors and omissions.
However, it is also important to recognize that the use of information technology is dependent upon the healthcare providers’ accurate assessment and accurate input of assessments.Directions:
•Familiarize yourself with the general guidelines for written work for this coursefound in the Syllabus.
•Review the directions and the scoring rubric for this assessment very carefully before starting your paper. This assessment comprises 30% of the total grade for this competency set.
•Write a scholarly paper on a topic of your choice related to the outline topics below. oYour paper should be approximately 7-10 pages long(notincluding the cover or reference pages) and double spaced.
There are no deductions for pages beyond ten or less than seven, but most students need 7-10 pages to meet the criteria.oUsethe following guidelines and APA level one outline headings noted belowinboldfont. You must use these headings as level one APA headings that are centered and bolded. (Note-DI students may use AMA format as needed).
