You are asked to assume that you currently work as an urban planner in a major city or city-region.
The city/ city-region is due a visit from a number of international urban scholars, urbanists and city planners who are engaging in an international study of key planning instruments.
Your Director has requested that you prepare a 2000-word briefing paper, which will be sent to the delegation before their arrival in the city.
It should provide background about your city, listing the major spatial development challenges it currently faces. It should then clearly introduce one planning instrument from the list below before evaluating your city’s experience of using that instrument.
