In “Drinking Hemlock and Other Nutritional Matters” Harold J Morowitz contends that epistemology, the theory of knowledge, should be taught in schools long before college. In “No, you’re not entitled to your opinion” Patrick Stokes explains that having an opinion is not the same as presenting a position based on knowledge, research, and experience. In “Come, Let Us Reason Together: New Research and the Public Good” Gene Andrew Jarrett describes how the development of colleges and universities is designed to encourage the pursuit of knowledge and truth.
Using Morowitz, Stokes and Jarrett’s articles, write an essay that explains how creditable, thoughtful research can benefit all areas of society.
