The students will draw on your practice experience in undertaking a 3000-word case study, which reflects the patient’s journey through their episode of ill health or recovery.

1. Outline the pathophysiology related to your case study (this should include the most common symptoms). Discuss ONE relevant treatment option. Consider the principles of safe drug administration by reflecting on current policies. (approx. 750 words)
2. Relate ONE of the following to your case study (shared decision making, safety, dignity, privacy, end of life care, pain management) and how it informs nursing practice. Consider the link between mental and physical health. Evaluate the benefits of appropriate assessment, implementation, and evaluation of care that enables a person-centred approach. (approx. 750 words)
3. Considering your case study, demonstrate the knowledge and behaviours that the nursing associate requires in order to monitor conditions and holistic health needs of people within their care. Discuss the role of the nursing associate within the ongoing assessment and recognition for further referral to other health professionals. (approx. 750 words)
4. Describe the significance of gaining consent and the ethical and legal aspects of care in relation to mental capacity and your case study. Discuss the meaning of working in partnership with the patient and carers/families and relate this to your case study.
