Change Project Paper (15%)
The change project includes a paper, PowerPoint, and Zoom presentation. The same topic will be used for these assignments.
Students will have the opportunity to identify the potential for positive change in their institution and further develop their professional nursing role competencies in the areas of advocacy and leadership by reflecting on essential components of the change process. Formal use of surveys or other formal data collection methods is not allowed. Students are also required to incorporate ALL professional role competencies demonstrating what they have learned during the semester.
The purpose of the change project paper is to allow the student to understand the role of a change agent as applied to nursing leadership. Using the materials in Chapter 5 of the Sullivan textbook, the student will identify a needed change and use the change process to initiate the change. Imagine something that drives you crazy at work or in nursing school. What are your biggest challenges? What systems are not working? How could you fix these issues?
The project allows the student to explore a leadership problem or need and determine how to resolve the problem professionally.
Students will formally present their change project paper to fellow students via Zoom using the change project PowerPoint (discussed below). The students will demonstrate communication competence in presentation skills by verbally implementing the change project through the presentation and PowerPoint slide show. Present the change project as you would at your facility. If you were going to sell this idea to your employees or fellow staff, how would you do it?
