Differentiate between common sense and social science as forms of knowledge.

The College Senior Management Team (SNIT) would like some research carried out on retention of learners in full-time programmes. Not everyone in the team believes that rigorous processes are crucial to success in this task, some believe that common sense approaches would suffice.

You have been asked to give a presentation to your college’s SNIT in which you:
• describe why it is important to use a tried and tested research process in carrying out the task above

• differentiate between common sense and social science as forms of knowledge

• describe how you would design your research so that it fits with each stage of an appropriate basic research process model

• explain the implications of the concepts of intellectual property and plagiarism to this research
You should produce a written response of 800-900 words for the SNIT as a report covering the points above.
