My research topic will focus on systemic discrimination (as it relates to race) or the perception of discrimination and how it effects the workplace during times of social unrest. When trying to figure out what my research topic would entail, the term discrimination would include gender, sexual orientation, and cultural/religious affiliation. I thought this would have be a broad-brush stroke, so I decided to narrow it to race.
Since racial bias has made it way to the for front of our national topic (again) I thought it fitting to investigate its effects on our workplace and overall effects on our economy while at the same time searching for possible gaps in the research. This research will be intended for middle management and above.
Law makers could also benefit, and I will explore effects of legislation on business due to policy change or social unrest due to laws passed that have the perception of discrimination.
1. Does systemic discrimination in the workplace exists? If so, is discrimination in the workplace amplified during times of social unrest?
2. Is there a correlation between social unrest and reports of discrimination in the workplace?
3. Is there a correlation between legislation and workplace discrimination?
4. What does systemic discrimination do to our economy?
