Some Syrians and Africans are examples of IDP’s. One of the reasons is the violence that many refugees have endured. Coupled with the fact of culture shock, refugees fleeing violent circumstances may find it difficult to learn English. It should also contain how ELL’s (English Language Learners) should continue to learn their primary language (L1) along with English (L2).
Their L1 is tied directly to their culture and heritage. Plus, studies have shown that people who are proficient in their L1 usually acquire their L2 at a faster pace.
