Description
According to the author’s argument, how did photography (and its publication) play a role in
perpetuating racism, division, and segregation in the U.S. in the 1950s? Support your response
with specific arguments offered by the author. You MUST look up words/events with which
you might not be familiar (for example: staging, merchant builders, shelter magazines,
Emmett Till, Jim Crow segregation, “sundown towns,” redlining, neoliberalism….).
Within an architectural and urban context (beyond the sociological issue of police brutality),
are racism, division, and segregation still perpetuated today? Examples?
