Description
Congressional lawmakers have the very tough job of determining the laws and programs that the federal government implements. They must consider the needs of constituents from their own districts and home states as well as the competing interests of many different groups in society. Ultimately, the goal should be to improve the country for all of us.
Identify a policy issue that is currently in the form of a bill pending in Congress. You can choose any bill that piques your interest, but it must have been voted on in at least one chamber (either the House or the Senate) of Congress.
You will write a response to the below questions regarding the bill you choose. Your written analysis should begin with the bill number (e.g. H.R. 2311 or S. 423), a hyperlink to the full text of the bill for your classmates and myself to reference, and a very brief synopsis in your own words of what the bill is proposing.

Please analyze and respond to all of these questions in your discussion post:
Which fundamental American rights, values or ideologies are linked to this issue? Explain.
Which individuals or group(s) will be most impacted by the fact that this piece of legislation passes or fails? Why?
Which House or Senate committee has considered/is considering your bill? What might be one argument a legislator on that committee would make in support of the bill? What might be one argument a legislator on that committee would make against the bill?
What’s your opinion about whether this bill should be passed and signed into law or not? Explain your reasoning.
Your discussion response is like a mini essay paper. College-level analysis is expected of you based on what you have studied in the course thus far. Your post should be between 350-450 relevant, responsive, and complete words in order to receive full points. Use paragraphs to break up your response so that it is easily readable.
Also, use the rubric to have a clear understanding of what is expected of you. Points will be deducted for dramatically exceeding the word count.
