Aims:
Define the role of social media in student’s learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and check if there is room for improvement. Estimate possible negative and positive influence of the social media on students’ mental health and well-being. Indicate distinctive factors that could impact on development of different perspectives and attitudes among the students in higher education.
Objectives:
To interrogate recent and relevant literature, identifying themes relating to social media use and mental health of student in higher education.
Illicit views from students regarding their social media use and understanding.
Gain perspectives how social media impact on individual students and their learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Analyse how different factors could impact on student’s personal experience in relation to social media use. Recognise the space for improvement where social media could more effectively support student’s learning during the pandemic.
Draw together these themes to inform future practice.
