Learning can be described and understood as a metaphor (e.g. learning is information processing [a computer metaphor]; learning is growing [an organismic process]; learning is making progress toward a goal [a travel metaphor]; learning is participating in a community [a situative metaphor]. Each of these can describe learning but each from a different perspective. The perspective maybe personal (what resonates with your personality) or the context in which the learning is taking place.
