This assignment is intended to explore the efforts made across Latin America and the Caribbean either
at the grass roots levels or by larger organizations to address the challenges the region faces.
Rather than focusing on all the problems we learned about already, this Wiki Entry will illustrate the various strategies put
in place to effect change from within.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this assignment you should be able to
• demonstrate ability to identify a topic on a current Latin American or Caribbean event, field of
knowledge, etc.
• conduct research using appropriate sources to gain in depth knowledge on a specific topic on Latin
America and the Caribbean
• produce a well-organized Wiki Entry, reflecting information researched essay that evidences thorough
knowledge on the subject, provide extensive facts and visual on a chosen subject (see Wiki Sample
Entry),
• show an understanding of, respect for, and acceptance of distinctive viewpoints and key cultural traits
from Latin American and Caribbean cultures learned in course.
• critically assess and incorporate other subject areas into your writing/wiki such as Latin American film,
literature, journalism, history, art, etc., relevant to your chosen topic.

A. Research:
• You will identify and have approved by your professor a topic grounded on the information learned in
the course, using a minimum of three different sources to delve into a current aspect of Latin
American or Caribbean reality.
• Appropriate sources include: virtual sources from reliable sites: gov., .edu, .org, articles located
through library databases or e-books available via e-brary.

Based on the information researched, you will create one (1) Wiki Entry in Bb on approved topic (please note
that the Wiki Entry is designed much like the Class Blog-same toolbar). Include:

• Title and authors’ names.
• Info. on topic in narrative-essay like form with illustrations, links, embedded videos related to
topic. Use insert link options for web links and pics. Saved pics to your computer and insert with
Insert Pic icon. Please write in Word first to edit and spell check, then copy and paste text on Wiki
Entry to minimize mistakes and typos.
