Throughout this course, we have been discussing how studying hunter-gatherers can help us understand the ways that ecological context shapes life histories.
Your assigned text, The Hadza, provided an indepth look into the lifeways of one representative group of African hunter-gatherers. Using this text and
the material presented throughout the course, write a short essay (2-3pp) explaining how the differences in lifestyle and ecology of the Hadza versus industrialized countries produces differences in life history characteristics.
In your essay, be sure to
(a) describe important features of the Hadza lifeway, including their social and physical environment, comparing and contrasting with the industrialized US;
(b) describe how life history features, such as fertility and survival, are similar or different between the Hadza and the US;
(c) link a and b by providing explanations for how the environments affected these differences in life history; and
(d) address how learning about small-scale societies like the Hadza has affected your understanding of human diversity.
Finally, (e) how do you think that scientific research on indigenous communities impacts those communities? Discuss at least one benefit and one drawback to this kind of research
