This week’s discussion contained several links to videos; one example was Marc Miller, an operating partner in one of P.F. Chang’s restaurants. This video examines his expected commitment from his server’s day-in and day-out. P.F. Chang’s organizational commitment is high and is mainly recognized in the hospitality industry; however, this commitment is not just in food chains; they can be in airlines, hotels, and manufacturers. Therefore, in the video, Marshall (2017) shows an interview with Marc Miller of P.F Chang’s restaurant and how organizational commitment can change workers’ attitudes and address this attitude positively, motivating and coaching before every shift.
Addinonally, Marshall (2017) video listens to Marc Miller while each worker enjoys a free meal satisfying the employee’s needs while briefed on how to sell the main dish is an example of organizational commitment by P.F Chang’s restaurant. According to TSUI et al. (2013), organization commitment has a similar relationship with job satisfaction because enriching employee performance will achieve any organization goals, such as improving customer satisfaction, perceived service quality, commitment to customer loyalty, and brand image like we have seen in P.F. Chang’s chain restaurants.
Moreover, organizations such as hotels can see these same contributions of employee job satisfaction that increase organizational performance. We may commit ourselves to rebook that hotel repeatedly when possible when we are treated to daily greetings, personal comment cards, and outstanding customer service by staff asking about their stay. Likewise, in Chang’s restaurant illustration, a manufacturer wants your loyalty in their product by listening to their employee’s feedback on ideas of a better product.
Lastly, an airline sets its brand image high for that customer to expect comfortability and reliability on each of their flights and verbal transparency if delayed fights occur. Therefore, personal greetings from check-in to deplaning are carried out with a smile. As a result, organizational commitment is vital for an organization to be successful and sustainable.
