School Law Research Paper Outline
Introduction: What is your area of the law and why is the area of the law important to public school law?
Current Case Law: Find the most relevant current case law and discuss the following:
What courts have heard cases relevant to your topic?
What specific questions have the courts addressed?
What did the court(s) conclude?
Look for patterns across your cases. Is this a consistent body of law, meaning did the different court opinions send a consistent message about the law? Or, is this body of law inconsistent, providing limited or little clear guidance for educators/other professionals?
NELP Standards (Application): Apply what you have learned about this area of the law to the practice of educators using the NELP Standards in the research paper rubric. Be as specific as you can. Refer to the “NELP Guidance 2020” document posted in the Week 6 Work Folder on Bb.
Conclusion: This is the “so what” section. What did you learned in researching and writing this paper? What are the implication for public schools? If you are not a public school educator, how does what you have learned apply to your work?
