Social Commentary CUA
Much like the satire unit, social commentary occurs in novels as well. We discussed what message the satire pieces represented in society; now, you will do the same for The Great Gatsby. You need to pick one character and analyze what point he or she represents about our society (Today’s society). You will formulate your claim and support it with evidence from the book and specific references from our society.
In developing your argument,
Discuss at least 3 sections of the book
Cite at least one specific example from the book in each body paragraph.
Provide context for quotes (you may want to use the sandwich method).
Follow a logical organizational structure that enhances your argument and uses effective transitions between and within paragraphs.
MLA format (Times New Roman, 12 pt. Font, double spaced, 1 inch margins, 1 ½ – 2 pages, last name with page number in the header, and the correct information on the top left of page one)
