Description
Write a 2-3 page critical evaluation of the article you have selected, in which you answer any of the following questions that are relevant. You can also choose to critically evaluate other aspects of an article aside from vague or ambiguous statements and the credibility of the authors.
Be sure to take a position (e.g., “The authors of this article appear to be interested parties due to x, y and z; therefore, their arguments about abc should be viewed with skepticism.”). State your position in the introduction of your paper. Use the paragraphs in the body of your paper to provide evidence that supports your position.
Identify the author’s main arguments and claims. Are any of the author’s arguments/claims ambiguous or vague?
Consider the credibility of the arguments. In doing so, consider your personal observations and background information on the topic discussed in the article; are they in-line with the authors’ claims?
Are the authors interested parties? Do the authors have relevant expertise? Do other experts disagree with their argument?
Might the authors have any type of bias? (Keep in mind that you will need to do research on the authors and find literature written by other experts to answer several of these questions. Make sure to cite your sources in APA-style.)
Remember to include line-numbering in your document (see Announcements for instructions).
