*** This is a slide power point AND a 2 page essay***
For this assignment, imagine that you are a therapist-intern at a community mental health agency in a mid-sized city. You and a fellow intern have been asked by your supervisor, Dr. Chandler, to create a PowerPoint presentation to be utilized in a training to help inform therapists at the agency about sexual issues in couple relationships.
It is also consistent with a systemic concept called isomorphism that Dr. Chandler has discussed in supervision, which is the idea that relationship patterns will occur in multiple contexts (Kolt, Odegard, Stephen, Provost, & Smith, 2012). In other words, if it happens in your personal and/or working relationships, it is likely to show up in your therapeutic relationships. As a result, you will be asked to provide reflections on these interactions.
Part 1. PowerPoint Presentation
Topic/issue for this project : Sexual violence
Must be supported by peer-reviewed sources. Provide an overview in your presentation that describes the topic/issue and its key components (2–3 slides)
Provide a list of 8–10 supportive resources for couples pertaining to this topic/issue, such as literature, websites, conferences, and workshops. Include a brief explanation about how each resource will be helpful (1–2 slides). Note: Resources must be appropriate and ethical within the context of couple therapy and unique client needs.
Include a total of 3–5 references to support the content of the PowerPoint (in addition to the supportive resources slide). Integrate this information into your slides.
Part 2. Reflection Paper:
Write a 2–3 page reflection paper based on your experience working with your partner( you can make this up) on the PowerPoint presentation component of the assignment. This is an opportunity to explore and assess the dynamics of your working relationship. In your paper, address the following:
Describe the communication process in your working relationship.
Describe different roles you each played in your working relationship and how those roles were negotiated.
Analyze how cultural/contextual variables (like race or gender) influence your working relationship. Note: Every relationship has variables. Explore yours rather than just saying yes they were there or no they were not.
Describe the strengths of your working relationship and include specific examples.
Analyze the most challenging aspect of your working relationship and include how these challenges were addressed. If challenges were not openly addressed, explain why. Provide specific examples.
