SUMMATIVE ASSIGNMENT – PROTOCOL FOR A QUALITATIVE SYSTEMATIC REVIEW (3,000 WORDS).
The protocol is an opportunity for you to develop a clear and detailed plan for a systematic review (SR) that you could undertake in the future at MSc level. It allows you to demonstrate your ability to produce a coherent, theoretically based argument justifying secondary research within a specific field. The development of a protocol is a key requisite for systematic review work.
Remember this assignment is a plan of what you will do; the protocol details the plan for the review and should describe the rationale for the review; the objectives and review question; the methods that will be used to locate, select and critically appraise studies, and the methods that will be used to collect and analyse data from the included studies. It is not a systematic review but the plan for a future review. It should therefore be written mostly in the future tense. The following guidelines provide information on what should be included in each section.
