Maximum word count: 1500 words for the poster; 15-minute narration with an accompanying 2000-word transcript.
Note that exceeding the word count by over 10% will result in a reduction in grade by the same percentage that the word count is exceeded.
[1222]Assignment Task
Poster:
Produce a poster using PowerPoint that critically evaluates the statement “older adults are better at regulating their emotions”. Your arguments must be supported by scientific research and citations.
Additional Guidance:
Your task is to produce a poster in PowerPoint which evaluates the statement presented above. The submission should be made as a PowerPoint file.
you would like for your poster (either landscape or portrait).
If you experience any issues with the cover sheets, you should manually edit the size of your slides by going to the ‘Design’ tab, then going to ‘Slide Size’ and selecting the ‘Custom slide size’ option. You can present the slides either landscape (120cm width x 80cm height) or portrait (80cm width x 120cm height). You will find further guidance on the slide’.
You should have two separate slides. The first slide should be a cover sheet, including your student number, module name, submission deadline and word count. The second slide should be your poster.
On the poster slide, you should split up the information into distinct sections and use bullet-points, diagrams, tables and pictures where appropriate. In the first section, you should introduce the concept of ‘emotion regulation’.
In the next section, you should then provide a critical evaluation of the statement, “older adults are better at regulating their emotions”. Your evaluation should include arguments both for and against the statement, supported by scientific research articles from peer reviewed ournals with accompanying citations.
These can be found within the lessons but to obtain the highest marks, evidence of wider reading is required. You should highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the studies you discuss in terms of their methodological approach and how this might affect confidence in the findings.
In the final section, you should present a logical conclusion based upon the arguments made both for and against the statement. To obtain the highest marks, you should also relate emotion regulation to contemporary issues, such as the consequences of poor emotion regulation for well-being, health and relationships.
(1500 words)
[1222]Narration:
As part of the assessment, you should produce a 15-minute narration of your poster.
This should take the form of an audio-recording included as an embedded narration on the poster slide, accompanied by a verbatim transcript (2000 words). In the transcript, please also include a reference list which encompasses all references from both the poster and the narration.
Additional Guidance:
Finally, you must then produce a verbatim transcript for the narration which is a word-for-word written account of everything you said in the audio-recording embedded on your poster slide. Please note that 2000 words is a guide, rather than a word count to aim for. The transcript should then be submitted as a Word/PDF document.
(15 minutes)
[1222]Formative Feedback
You have the opportunity to submit a draft poster to receive formative feedback.
The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner.
Your draft poster must be submitted to your module leader/lecturer by email at least two weeks prior to the final assessment submission date. This is to allow time for you to reflect on the feedback and draft your final submission.
During periods such as Christmas this deadline may change to ensure that you receive your feedback in time. Your module leader will inform you of this at the beginning of the module.
Formative feedback will be provided within 5 working days after submission, it will not be given to work submitted after the formative submission deadline.
Check the exact deadline/time with your module leader.
Note that formative feedback can only be given on ONE draft. It is recommended that you seek further feedback/comment on your first draft if needed
by scheduling a 1-2-1 meeting with your module leader/lecturer.
Guidelines
You MUST underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with appropriate and wide ranging academic research and ensure this is referenced using the APA system(s).
