Write a narrative essay (minimum 1500 words) in which you address and discuss the questions and statements listed below. Use at least four scholarly sources and cite sources in APA.

1. Discuss three principles from the American Correctional Association Code of Ethics. Provide an example of a prison situation in which each principle would apply.

2. Argue for or against the use of private prisons.

3. Present and discuss three elements of the Prison Guard Code. Explain how each element could create an ethical problem. Provide an example of the application of each of the three elements.

4. Describe what you believe our criminal justice and correctional systems would look like today if truth-in-sentencing laws had not been implemented. How would prison populations be different? How would probation and parole caseloads be different? Analyze if there would likely be more or less crime if truth-in-sentencing laws had not been enacted?
