Black board discussion post on a personal clinical experience how a patient’s pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes may alter his or her response to a drug.
Description
As advanced practice prescribers, a strong knowledge of clinical pharmacology will facilitate the selection of optimal drug regimens for your patients. Clinical pharmacology is the study of how drugs exert their effects on the human body. It includes both pharmacokinetics (what the body does to the drug) and pharmacodynamics (what the drug does to the body).
For the Week 1 Discussion, you will reflect on a case from your past clinical experiences and consider how a patient’s pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes may alter his or her response to a drug.
FYI: Please feel free to be creative with the scenario, and select a medication that would be used on a medical-surgical unit or mental health unit. Please speak in 1st person. This is a black board discussion post so it does not need to be long, simply enough to convey the topic. Please include an introduction and conclusion.
