NUR 230 – Management of Patient Care
Guidelines – Journal Evaluation
Nurses evaluate educational and research study related articles to answer questions pertaining to their practice, learning to solve problems, improve the quality and safety of patient care, critically think answers to questions, better understand healthcare policy & evidence-based practice. Additionally, journal evaluation provides the opportunity to reinforce basic spelling/grammar and APA writing style (adopted by nursing profession for academic writing and nursing research articles).
From each article topic listing, select THE/ONE article from which to write your journal evaluation. The nurse educator who teaches the topic will provide the article(s) and/or hyperlinks via CANVAS online for that topic area. The grading rubric is also provided via the CANVAS “Written Assignments” module. NOTE: before submission: place your name at the top of the first page and include your name as part of the file assignment name i.e. Jane Doe JE-topic area.
Basic items to establish a firm APA foundation: Level 1 heading (centered, boldface, upper and lowercase); font (Times New Roman, black 12-point); spacing (double); paragraph indentation (@5-7 spaces); paragraph Length @100-150 words; paraphrase all paragraph content; NOTE: DO NOT INCLUDE title page, direct quotes, or citations
