You are assigned three real-world comprehensive land use plans. As depicted in the plans, the communities have decided on “what” they want and “how” best to get what they want. The costs of no comprehensive plans are severe including stagnant property taxes, declines in public services like schools and police, deterioration of neighborhoods, to mention a few.
Adopted comprehensive plans provide solid returns by heading off problems before they become unmanageable. After adoption of the plan, the key to its success is implementation. Of course, the implementation varies from one community to another. Using the three comprehensive plans, respond to the questions below.
Question:
What are the similarities and differences among the three comprehensive plans?
What are the implementation strategies in each community?
How do these real-real world comprehensive plans align with your understanding of land use plans?
