TASK – Read the following:

You were successful in being appointed as an intern and have worked on the pilot project for two months.  All is going well and the community centre has just received additional funding to implement a professional development scheme.

 You have been asked to prepare and present a session on one of the following population groups:

Working with children; or
Working with ethnic communities; or
Working with frail and aged people.

Due to the pandemic, many staff members are still working remotely.  Your manager has asked you to prepare a short presentation and a concise written leaflet to accompany the presentation.  She has asked you to keep the information practical and focused on giving fellow staff members an insight into strategies that could lead to better outcomes for clients.

As this is a professional presentation, research and communication skills (written and verbal) will be well regarded.  Your manager is hoping that your presentation will be a valuable resource for all the interns.

Your presentation should include the following:

Introduction – identify which population group is being addressed;
Background – identify key points in working with the population group;
Issues – identify two issues (of relevance to criminal justice) that may affect the population group;
Strategies – identify two strategies that staff may implement to address the issues; and
Further Information – identify two resources that staff may refer to regarding the strategies mentioned.
Note: You are required to complete two tasks for this assessment.

Task 1 – Presentation:
A PowerPoint presentation – no more than five slides;

One slide for each of the sections to be addressed – introduction, background, issues, strategies and further information;
References are included, in APA7 style;
A recording of the PowerPoint presentation – no more than 10 minutes;
Further details on the recorded presentation will be provided by your subject coordinator.

Task 2 – Written Leaflet:
Word document;

Length – no more than 1000 words;
Written notes on each section addressed in the presentation – introduction, background, issues, strategies and further information;
References are included, in APA7 style;
No PowerPoint slide images are to be included – these are your notes to accompany the slides that will then be provided to the audience.
