Poetry Analysis Exercise
In several paragraphs, analyze the poetic elements the author uses, including but not limited to:
rhyme scheme
rhythm
sensory descriptions
figurative language (simile, metaphor, and personification)
(The poem might not have all the elements above and it may have more, but even if it doesn’t have a distinct rhyme scheme, which is called free verse, it still is organized and makes use of sound and rhythm in some way.)
How do the poetic choices made contribute to the meaning of the poem for an audience of children? What about for adults?
