PRACTICE OF MENTAL HEALTH NURSING
Description
This assessment has two components which are assessed together to provide the mark for the module.
• The first component is a poster presentation outlining the key considerations of a selected adult/child with a complex mental health presentation (50%).

The first, is to produce a poster that outlines the key considerations for a selected adult/child with a complex mental health presentation.
• The poster needs to be based on an adult/child with a complex mental health presentation in either a community or inpatient setting and must be different from the person written about in The Practice of Mental Health Nursing 1.
• The poster needs to address key considerations most relevant to your adult/child and be supported by current policies/clinical guidelines/research evidence.
• You should demonstrate holistic thinking when identifying your key consideration which should focus on effective nursing interventions and care planning
• The poster needs to provide succinct information combined with visual representation of ideas and correct citation of sources. Consider some key facts about the person and their presentation with regards to epidemiology and aetiology.
• Think about some of the models, theories, frameworks and approaches that we learned about in the module and conceptualise/formulate your understanding of the case using one of these
The poster needs to demonstrate holistic thinking with regards to the nursing interventions most relevant to your adult/child and be supported by current policies/clinical guidelines/research evidence.
Focus on:
• Intervention for therapeutic engagement
• Interventions for physical health
• Interventions for medication management and adherence
• Interventions for risk management
• Intervention around recovery and social inclusion
• Interventions around the Mental Health or Mental Capacity Act
You do not need to focus on all the intervention but pick the most important ones for your case.
Please include a confidentiality clause for the poster.
• The second component is a commentary to accompany the poster outlining the key considerations
chosen and the sources of information used to support and develop the poster, 1,100 words (50%).
Pick two of the key consideration addressed in your poster presentation and critically discuss each of these within the context of your adult/child.
