CAPSIM simulation
Guidelines
⦁ Based on functional departments in the CAPSIM simulation (R&D, Marketing, Production, and Finance).
⦁ Instructions:
⦁ Identify and discuss the primary functions and key performance measures in each functional department.
⦁ Using the “systems theory” discuss the interrelationships between the departments and how decisions in one functional area affect the other functions.
⦁ Identify differences in the organizational culture between the functional areas and how the cultures shape the decision making process.
⦁ You should support your observations by citing other sources.
⦁ Length:
there is no minimum/maximum page count (as in industry you will never be told to write anything with a page range).
The important aspect is to write comprehensively.
⦁ Format:
Title page**; Introduction ***; the body of work (topical paragraphs); and summary/conclusion paragraph.
⦁ References –
Minimum number of references: Three (3) with more as needed to support your points. Points will be deducted if sources are not cited and referenced. You may use books, articles from periodicals or newspapers, and peer reviewed journals. Wikis and blogs are not acceptable sources as they are not expert knowledge as anyone may post to them.
⦁ Graphics –
Graphics, charts, pictures, art are ok if they add to your discussion and help clarify some point. APA says black & white only but color is OK for this paper.
⦁ Format – Double spaced with a page number at the bottom in the middle of the page
⦁ Font is to be 12 pt. (Times New Roman)
⦁ Margins are to be 1” margins all around per APA
⦁ Citations/References –
Give credit for work that is not yours by citing the source in the body of the paper and providing the complete reference in the reference section.
See APA 6th edition manual or Purdue OWL for APA for guidance.
If you are not adept at APA, it is highly recommended to utilize Polk State College’s Writing Center.
⦁ Grade/Point Value: 300 pts. (8% of total) Grading rubric on the next page
