1. Find 2 Primary Research Articles on “Cardiovascular Disease” and write a summary for each in your own words.
What is a Primary research article? – a report of original research published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Scientists must publish their research results – one way to determine if it’s a report of original research is to look for “Materials and Methods” (or procedures / protocols) “Results” and “Discussion” sections. (In nursing / medical journals, the papers may be in the form of case study reports.)
Hint: in “Advanced Search” in EBSCOHost you can limit results to mostly peer-reviewed articles by checking the box “Scholarly Peer Reviewed Journals.”
** Read the paper, set it aside and write a brief summary (about one page) – in your own words
– of the primary research article to include:
1) the purpose or goal of the research
2) discussion of results and conclusions and the importance of the work
Prepare the article citation using APA style, which is closest to the citation style used by most scientific journals.
