TOPICS
1. Should healthcare be considered a fundamental human right?
Drawing upon the arguments and concepts you have learned in this course , write an essay that takes a position on whether or not healthcare is a fundamental right. Be sure to address what your position would entail in terms of how we should structure the Health Care System.
2. Should patients be given an option to end their own lives or to request that physicians take actions that will lead to their death? And if so, when and under what conditions?
Drawing on the arguments and concepts you have learned in this course, write an essay that takes an ethically informed position on whether or not we should allow euthanasia and/or physician assisted suicide. Be sure to address what your position would entail in terms of health care policy and practice.
3. Global Health
We have talked about the injustice in global health, identify some of the injustices we mentioned in this class, then, identify which one of the following schools(deontology, utilitarian, virtue ethics, care ethics) is best at helping us combating these injustices? Why? Be sure to demonstrate your understanding of their position on this subject.
4. Medical Data
We have talked about the issue of medical data security in this class. Identify one of the biggest problems you think our current practice of storing medical data face and and explain why it is a serious issue. What need to be done to preserve our data security?
