Description

Based on a gap in research on the Psychology of women and gender, design an original empirical study to address the gap.

The gap to discuss in the empirical study will be: Do heterosexual women who identify as feminists have lower relationship satisfaction?

Design and describe an original, empirical study to address that gap. The study must meet the following requirements:

1) must involve human participants – your proposed study should not involve animals, meta-analyses/ literature reviews or observation of media (e.g. newspaper articles)

2) It must be ethical – something that would not harm, traumatize or impact personal dignity or alter life of participants

3) It must be feasible – something a researcher could realistically do

4) It must not be an exact replication of a study we have looked at in this course

5) It must be directly related to psychology and gender

NOTE: Assume that you can recruit any demographic of participants that you want for your study. However, you should have a realistic and feasible plan for how you will recruit your participants, especially if they are not WEIRD university students

Your response should be structured exactly like an empirical study in a journal article, meaning that you should include the following:

1) Provide background information on the issue, including describing the relevant literature and the gap that you have identified in the literature – including your research question and or hypothesis (Introduction)

2) Describe an experimental methodology that is designed to empirically address the gap that you have identified (Methodology)

3) Describe the expected outcome of your study (Results). Because you will not be collecting the actual data, your Results section should focus on possible empirical outcomes of your proposed study

What results could be generated by your study and what you expect the results would be and why

4) Discuss what the theoretical implications are of the results foundĀ  how they answer the question posed, what the broader implications (theoretical and/or practical) of these results might be,

What the potential drawbacks or shortcomings of the study are, and what possible further research might be conducted (Discussion)
