Overview:
As you reflected, social problems are significant issues that are social in nature, affect a large group of people, and require societal intervention. Some individuals engage in advocacy to create change, often connecting with social organizations to combat a social issue. The social organization plays a vital role in addressing social problems and providing the resources, people, and services to create and sustain change.
Instructions:
You will submit a three to four-page research paper focusing on a current social organization of interest. This organization should focus on one of the discussed social problems within this course, including issues in the criminal justice or education systems, inequality/discrimination, or extremism.
Within your discussion, include:
• The name of the organization, its goals, and the mission statement
• It’s history
• The organization’s structure (where it is located, how many members it has, and what tactics they use?)
• Major campaigns or issues they focus on and a description of the issues
• Solutions they propose for these issues/Approaches to the issues
• Any programs or outreach they promote/run
• Major successes
Guidelines:
• Must be three to four double-spaced pages and formatted according to APA style.
• Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
