Part One (50%)
For each of the passages, consider the following:
1. Contextualize the passage (what theme, or idea from the work does it embody?) (6 marks)

3. Author and title (who is the author, what is the title?) (1 mark)
A) A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision once I saw:
It was an Abyssinian maid,
And on her dulcimer she played,
Singing of Mount Abora.
Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song,
B) For I have known them all already, known them all—
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a further room.
So how should I presume?

In the form of an essay, consider how (and to what end) the plays The Importance of Being Earnest, Blood Relations and Essay ridicule the relationship between power and gender.
The essay should be around 750-800 words long (6 to 8 paragraphs).
In your essay, refer as specifically as possible (without discussing the plot), to each of these works.
