Adhd and nervous system
Question 1
In Topic 4, Section 2.3, you learnt about a study in which some researchers investigated the effects of amphetamine on neuronal structures in rats (Turner et al., 2018). Read Section 2.3 and completed Activity 2.6 before starting this question.
Write an investigative report based on some data that we are providing on two different neuronal structures.
Your report should contain the following components:
A title for the investigation. (2 marks)
An introduction that includes the general aim and the rationale (reason) for the investigation. For the rationale, you should consider why the brain changes investigated are relevant to ADHD and its treatment. You should also include an experimental hypothesis and a null hypothesis for each part of the investigation. (About 300 words) (8 marks)
A methods section briefly explaining how the study was performed and the measurements that were taken. In this section you should state the independent variable and the experimental and control conditions for the investigation, and the dependent variable for each part of the investigation. You should also state whether the investigation was between or within subject groups. (About 300 words) (12 marks)
A results section including your analysis of the data, presented in an appropriate way (see details on next page). Note that we are not expecting you to analyse the results using a statistical test. (About 100 words) (12 marks)
A conclusion commenting on what the results mean, whether they appear to support or refute the null hypotheses, and how this would be confirmed in a statistical test. You should also include two limitations or challenges of the investigation in this section. (About 200 words) (8 marks)
A short reference list for any sections of the module materials cited in your report (. (3 marks)
