Scientist Spotlight
Darrion Nguyen
To help us prepare for what we are about to study in our class, we will explore the work of Darrion Nguyen. Darrion is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.
For the last few years, Darrion worked as a research technician, where he often found himself in the lab working late into the night. Oftentimes, he’d mesh late nights into creative sessions, where he’d make relatable science and research videos under the pseudonym, “Lab Shenanigans”.

Dr. Kizzmekia Shanta Corbett
Dr. Kizzmekia S. Corbett is an American viral immunologist at the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institute of Health which is based in Bethesda, Maryland. Her six-year background in coronavirus biology and vaccine development research enabled her to be a key developer of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
