Aim:
To assess the benefits of the cognitive interviewing process and whether officers should routinely be trained in the process for the investigation of volume crime
Objectives:
Conduct critical analysis of existing research into cognitive interview theory and the concept of memory retrieval.
Review and evaluate current national training guidelines and standards for investigative interviewing of witnesses/victims and suspects.
Conduct secondary research of existing studies and result to highlight the benefits and efficacy of the Cognitive Interview
Assess the use of the Cognitive Interview, or parts thereof, against the standard police interview and determine whether officers should be routinely trained in advanced interview techniques as standard
