Differentiated Unit Plan
The purpose of this assignment is to design a differentiated unit with a minimum of five (5) lessons.
Assignment Expectations:
Using Heacox’s eight steps (pages 9-11) as a guide, create an in-depth unit that includes intentional differentiation for four specific learners.
● Align instruction and unit to Academic Standards
● Rewrite your standards as KUDO’s (student friendly language)
● Utilize a pre-assessment for student interest and/or learning preferences
● Develop a pre-assessment and post-assessment to address academic content and demonstrate growth
● Five lessons each include:
a. Selected components (phases) of the differentiated unit plan, Heacox pp. 59-62
b. formative assessment
c. student grouping techniques
d. classroom management
● Technology used throughout unit
● Center-based activities OR Tiered Assignment
● Rubric used for center-based activities, tiered assignment, or as part of other assessment
