Service Learning Reflection Paper Requirements
Overview:
The Business Service Learning Service Project requires 40 hours of work with an organization that
provides a social benefit to the community. A ten page paper is required through which you describe the project, its society benefit, your impact on the organization and your personal observations on how you were affected by the experience.
The project should leverage the learning and experience in the Olivet College Business program and apply it to a particular problem or opportunity with the Service Organization.
Reflection Paper Specifics
1. Include a cover page, specifics provided below.
2. The paper should be 10 pages in length
3. Text should be typed double-spaced, using 12-point font size, with 1” margins (top, bottom, sides).
4. Indent paragraphs five spaces.
5. All pages, except the title page, must be numbered at the bottom, center.
6. Running header should include your name (first initial and last name only) 10-point font size.

The paper should be organized as follows:
Section One – What service project did you choose and why did you choose it?
Section Two – Detail the work you completed, including how you prepared for the project.
Section Three – Describe any challenges you faced.
Section Four – What social need did your work meet or should it have met? What in our society causes
this need?
Section Five – Assessment of how you helped meet this need? Is this an effective way of meeting this
need?
Section Six – Self Assessment – What effect did this work have on you as a person? Did it change your
opinion about anything during the experience? How will this service experience influence your future life?
