For your paper, you should proceed as follows:
1. Select a public policy to evaluate. This can be either an existing policy or proposed policy.
2. Research your selected policy and locate high-quality sources regarding the issue. I recommend using UA library databases and/or Google Scholar to assist in locating appropriate sources. There is no specific number of sources required, but I recommend having at least five to ensure that you are getting a diverse array of information.
3. Follow the steps from Figure 4-1 in your text book to conduct your policy analysis.
a. Define the problem your policy is trying to address, discuss the causes of the problem, and analyze how it might be a selected by the policy action in question.
b. Discuss the policy you have selected and compare its characteristics to those of other potential policies.
c.Discuss which evaluative criteria you will use to evaluate the policy and why.
d.Consider how your policy compares to the other potential policies you identified. Evaluate the available evidence regarding particular outcomes. Where evidence is lacking, consider how best to acquire such evidence.
e.Decide on your policy recommendations and explain your reasoning. Discuss any possible complicating factors and how they might be addressed.
4. Edit and proof read your paper as needed,making sure to follow the style manual you have chosen to use. Double-check your references to ensure that all in-text citations correspond to a reference list entry .
5. Create a title page for your paper. Below the title on that same page, include an abstract of no more than 150 words concisely summarizing your analysis .
6. Ensurethatyourpaperiswritteninareadableprofessionalfontat12 point . Papers must be double-spaced, have one-inch margins, and contain page numbers.
