This is your midterm blog. Your community health assessment (CHA) blog will require you to find and read your local community health assessment, which can be found on your local health department’s website. The community health assessment is traditionally conducted every three years, with each year representing a different part of the cycle. The first year is data collection and setting of priorities, the second year is the action items, and the third year is reporting on the progress as well as starting over. If you live in WNC, the process is streamlined for each county in the region to be on the same schedule. The last CHA was written and published in 2018, however, if you do not live in WNC, I am unsure of what schedule your community will be on but is every three years regardless. If you find a document that is 2018, that is the most recent document you will find right now, and the latest document you should find.
Review the priorities, how they were set, and by who, as well as what the action plan is to help with those priorities.
Complete the following:
Where are you from? County and State should be listed.
Explicitly state what the priorities are for your county.
Who was involved in that process.
Why were those priorities set? Provide explicit data that supports the decision.
If you were involved, based upon the given data, would you select different priorities? If so, why? Give data to support your answer. If not, what would your strategies be to help with the set priorities?
