Part of the cultural richness of San Antonio and the United States is the numerous businesses serving food from different ethnicities: Turkish, Mexican, Overall Latin American, Armenian, Ethiopian, Jerusalem, Korean, Afghan, Vietnamese, Indian, Morocco, Greek, Overall Mediterranean. Many of these businesses are operated and staffed by people from these countries.
As an experiential learning activity, you will choose such a business to visit .

Food ways: Social and cultural customs and traditions relating to this type of food and its preparation
Range of options on the menu – is it possible to get a healthy meal?
Your three favorite items on the menu.
Compare the food offered with that available at a similar mainstream, “non-ethnic specific” place.
What social and cultural aspects of this ethnic specific food did you find different from your own ethnicity; what does this experience inform you about this group’s immigration and migration patterns, assimilation processes, and adjustment to American life.
What is the overall perception of mainstream society about this ethnic group?
What is this group’s self-identification and cultural identity as a minority group in the USA.
