Benchmark Assignment: Research Article Evaluation (40%)
Students will use the library to locate articles from a peer-reviewed journal relevant to Social Work. The course instructor will provide information to introduce students to library resources.
Students will learn how to locate research articles for the research evaluation papers, particularly by using online databases. Students will use their critical thinking skills to analyze the research and address each of the following areas:
1. Title of Article
2. Article Reference-American Psychological Association format
3. Research Design 3-1. Quantitative, qualitative or mixed research 3-2. Exploratory, descriptive or explanatory research
4. Sampling 4-1. Sampling method -Is it a probability or nonprobability sampling? 4-2. Does the sample appear to be reasonable and to have been constructed without bias? 4-3. Population and sample size 4-4. Is the sample size adequate for the generalization? 4-5. The margin of error and level of confidence
5. Data collection method 5-1. The survey, Interview, and Secondary Data Analysis 5-2. Response rate, if identified.

6. Instrumentation 6-1. Are the questions straightforward and clear, vague or leading? 6-2. Reliability of the instrument/scale 6-3. Possible threats to the internal and external validity
7. Contributions and limitations of the research 8. Conclusion — Describe how the findings of the article can impact social work practice or effective social work policies. How might this research lead to changes in social work practice or policies? Writing
1. The paper must meet APA guidelines and format.
2. Page numbers should begin at the title page
3. On the title page, include title, student name, instructor name, course name, and submission date. *Length of paper: 7-8 pages in text / *Due Date: 11/18/2022 IMPORTANT: The Benchmark Assignment for this course demonstrates your mastery of the competencies and behaviors emphasized through the semester. This assignment requires a passing grade of “C” for undergraduate students. This assignment comprises forty percent of the final grade in this course. If you fail the Benchmark Assignment you risk not passing the course.
