The overall goal of this effort is for you learn about scholarly psychology journal articles: how to find them, what they contain, and how to write about them. The assignment is designed to help you:
Learn about the resources and the techniques available to find peer-reviewed journal articles.
Learn/develop an understanding of the component parts of journals articles in psychology.
Work on understanding the content in each section of an empirical research paper.
Develop a preliminary understanding of APA style, specifically for article structure, citations, and references. Understand the connection between proper citations and references, to plagiarism and academic integrity.
Learn something interesting and timely that we are not otherwise covering in the course.
Task List
Watch the series of videos provided by your professor.
After you have completed the videos, you will be given a journal article to read, related broadly to the content of Intro to Psychology. You will write a report on that journal article, using the format described below. Your job is to summarize the relevant information from the article in your own words. You should write as if you are trying to communicate the information to an intelligent reader who has no special knowledge of psychology. Make sure you explain key concepts and terms that you use. Your report must be typed. Grammar and spelling count!!! PROOFREAD your final draft carefully.
Requirements for the report itself:
Must be 2-3 double-spaced pages and based on the article you read. You must NOT plagiarize . You must provide proper citations (see below) in order to summarize without plagiarizing.
do not use a title page or cover sheet. Just place your name in the upper right-hand corner of the first page of the document.
Provide information in the order listed below but write it as a complete paper. Do not simply answer the questions. As a general rule, the answer to each question should make up one or two well-developed paragraphs. Make sure to include the headings for each section.
