Excess Dressing Product Waste in Patient Rooms
1. Identify and describe a process or procedure that would benefit from an improvement to enhance health, organizational processes, and outcomes within the placement.
During our clinical experience, we noticed that every room has had excess dressing supplies left in the rooms such as saline, creams, dressing supplies and other products that accumulate over time. Many of these items are sterile and should not be used once they are opened but are left in patient rooms and build up. None of these products are dated/labeled when left in patient’s rooms therefore other staff members have no way of identifying when the products are opened.
2. Explain the current state using clinical data and quality improvement tools .
3. Define your aim, the overall goal you wish to achieve.
