World War I Annotated Timeline
The purpose of this week’s assignment is to acquire fundamental chronological and geographical knowledge, including the main events and developments, of the First World War.
Review the “Interactive WWI Timeline ” on the website of the National WWI Museum and Memorial , and identify events and dates that you want to include in your own annotated timeline. The Museum’s timeline can be your only source for this assignment, or it can complement the material included in this week’s module.
Identify and collect the images that you want to display in your annotated timeline. You can use the internet or the material provided in this week’s module. Make sure to take note of your sources.
Typical timeline entry would include “date, name/title of event, annotation”
Guidelines:
Your annotated timeline should consist of at least twenty (20) events, including:
1-The official beginning date of World War I
2-The Germans’ first use of poison gas as a weapon
3-The Lusitania incident
4-The United States’ declaration of war on Germany
5-Lenin’s arrival in Petrograd, Russia
6-The Balfour Declaration
7-The Bolshevik Revolution
8-Woodrow Wilson’s “14 Points”
9-The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
10-The official ending date of World War I
11-Germany’s ratification of the Treaty of Versailles
12-The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Include one image for each historical event of your annotated timeline.
Images should have a succinct description and credit lines according to APA guidelines.
