Opening of Class Presentation (10 points)
At the beginning of each class, two to three students will be required to share and discuss with the class a social policy issue of interest. The social policy issue can come from the student’s fieldwork placement, personal interest, a newspaper/magazine article, television show, podcast, or other media outlet. In doing so, students should be able to identify who is impacted by the social policy issue, potential implications for social, economic, and environmental justice issues and social work’s response in advancing social, economic and environmental justice concerning this social policy issue. In sharing and discussing with the class, students should be prepared to interact with and answer questions from other students. Each presentation will be 10-15 minutes in length. Presentations will take place each Monday.By the previous Wednesday before the presentations, presenters must send the class one or two thought/discussion questions to consider to help the class prepare for the presentation.
You may use visual aids in your presentation such as images, brief PowerPoint slides, and/or brief videos.
A presentation schedule will be put together in week one and presentations will begin in week 3 through week 14.
Your grade on the presentation will be based on the following criteria:
How clear and organized was the presentation?
How well-supported with outside sources was the information presented?
How well-balanced were the presenters ?
How well did the presenters interact with the audience?
