Increase access to harm reduction services, including expanding services to encompass polysubstance use and a range of consumption modalities
Expand access to evidence-based syringe services programs (SSPs). Evidence-based
SSPs are community-based programs that provide health education, infectious disease
testing, and either referrals to care or on-site health services through a health hub model in addition to providing direct, secondary, and mobile distribution of sterile use supplies.
Expand harm reduction services to address multiple substance types and modes of
consumption for overdose and overamping prevention, harm reduction, and connections to care. Substance types include but are not limited to opioids, stimulants,
benzodiazepines, and alcohol.
Expand access to tools to check the drug supply such as fentanyl test strips, infrared
spectrometry, and confirmatory testing; and increase dissemination of the results of
checked drugs to promote overdose prevention and harm reduction practices.
