Genogram Project information
A genogram is a multigenerational graphic representation that diagrams structure, function and characteristics among individuals in a family.

A genogram goes beyond a traditional family tree. It provides the practitioner a tool that lends to the analysis of patterns across generations on such indicators as chronic health problems, genetic traits, psycho-social factors, family economics, relationships and family development in order to provide person centered care.

Each student will create a 3-generation genogram of their family using conventional symbols.  Included with your family genogram, you will submit a 5-6 page paper that demonstrates you scholarly ability to apply a theoretical orientation to the analysis of a family genogram for the purpose of informing person-centered care.

Decide on a theory presented during the first 4 weeks of the course and the concepts that define the theoretical framework to the analysis of your family genogram. The textbook identifies the defining concepts for each theory. Your understanding of the concepts should be discussed in the body of the paper, be supported by the literature and applied to your written analysis.
